Descreve peixe ou carne a que foram retirados os ossos e normalmente cortado em pedaços planos chamados filetes.

Usado sobretudo em receitas ou restaurantes, principalmente com peixe ('filete de peixe'), frango ou carne. Não se usa para legumes. Indica que a carne está pronta para cozinhar.
