'Fictitious' kelimesi daha çok resmi, edebi ve hukuki metinlerde kullanılır. Kurgusal hikaye, karakter veya sahte bilgi için geçerlidir. 'Fictional' daha çok yaratıcı eserler için, 'fictitious' ise yanıltıcı anlamı da taşır.
