昔話や物語に登場する、小さな魔法の存在。詩的または古風な表現で「妖精」を指す。

日本語の「妖精」はごく一般的な言葉ですが、英語の“fay”はとても詩的・古風で、普通は“fairy”が使われます。物語や詩で出てくる表現です。
