動物などを主人公にして、教訓や人生の知恵を伝える短い物語。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

文学や教育の分野で使われる言葉。'fairy tales'（おとぎ話）とは異なり、必ず教訓が含まれています。複数形で使われます。

My teacher reads fables to the class every Friday.
