Definition

‘Expiration’ वह समय है जब कोई चीज़ अब वैध, अच्छी या उपयोगी नहीं रहती, जैसे कि भोजन, दवा या दस्तावेज़। कभी-कभी इसका मतलब साँस छोड़ना भी हो सकता है, लेकिन समय सीमा वाला अर्थ ज्यादा आम है।

अक्सर औपचारिक या तकनीकी संदर्भों में, जैसे ‘expiration date’ (समाप्ति तिथि) में प्रयोग होता है। साँस छोड़ने के अर्थ में रोज़मर्रा में नहीं कहा जाता। इसे ‘inspiration’ (प्रेरणा/साँस लेना) से न मिलाएँ।
