Definition

地震が地下で起きた場所の真上の地表の地点です。また、出来事や活動の中心地という意味でも使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

もともと地震用語ですが、'危機の震央'など比喩的にもよく使います。米国式スペルは 'epicenter' です。
