다른 사람을 즐겁게 해주거나, 집에 손님을 초대해 접대하는 것을 의미합니다. 때로는 어떤 생각을 짧게 떠올릴 때도 사용됩니다.

주로 공연자, 진행자 등이 남을 즐겁게 하는 데에 씁니다. 'entertains guests'는 손님 초대, 'entertains the idea'는 생각을 잠시 품는다는 뜻입니다. 'maintains', 'retains'와 혼동하지 마세요.

She entertains the children with stories.
