Definition
Engaged significa geralmente que alguém está comprometido para casar. Também pode significar estar ocupado com algo, envolvido numa atividade ou atento e interessado.

Usa-se muito em 'get engaged' e 'be engaged to' para falar de casamento: 'She is engaged to Mark.' Para atenção ou interesse, são comuns 'engaged in conversation' e 'keep students engaged'. Em contextos britânicos, uma linha telefónica também pode estar 'engaged', ou seja, ocupada.
