徐々に許可されていない場所や望まれていない領域に入り込むこと。または、だんだんと何かを侵食していくこと。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「encroaching on/upon」でよく使われ、物理的場所や目に見えないことにも使う。直訳「侵入する」と違い、ゆっくりとした進出や広がりに使うフォーマルな表現。
