여러 명이 야외나 임시 거처에 진을 치거나 야영했을 때 쓰는 말입니다. 주로 군대, 탐험대 등 집단에 사용됩니다.

주로 역사적, 군사적, 문학적 상황에서 쓰이며, 개인보다는 집단을 의미합니다. 현대적인 레저 캠핑에는 사용하지 않습니다.
