Un terraplén es una estructura elevada hecha de tierra, piedra o concreto que se construye para retener agua, sostener una carretera o vía férrea, o evitar inundaciones.
Usage Notes (Spanish)
Se usa en ingeniería civil y geografía. Expresiones comunes: 'terraplén del río', 'terraplén del tren'. No se usa mucho en la conversación diaria, salvo al hablar de infraestructuras o protección contra inundaciones.
