‘Dredged’ বলতে কোনো জলপথ থেকে পলি বা আবর্জনা তোলা বা মনে রাখা পুরনো স্মৃতি বা তথ্য মনে করা বোঝায়।

'খনন' সাধারণত নদী, খাল ইত্যাদি শুদ্ধিকরণে ব্যবহৃত হয়; 'মনে করা' অর্থে পুরনো তথ্য বা স্মৃতির প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেমন 'dredged up memories'।
