फुटबॉल, रग्बी या अन्य खेलों में 'downfield' का मतलब है मैदान के लंबे हिस्से की ओर, या विरोधी के गोल की दिशा में बढ़ना। यह ऐसी कार्रवाई या पास के लिए उपयोग होता है जो मैदान में दूर तक जाते हैं।

मुख्यतः खेल कमेंट्री में प्रयोग होता है, खासकर अमरीकी फुटबॉल और फुटबॉल में। 'throw downfield' या 'run downfield' का अर्थ लंबी दूरी की आक्रामक चाल है। खेल के अलावा आम बोलचाल में नहीं आता।
