占いや霊的な方法を使って未来を予言したり、隠された情報を明かすとされる人です。特別な道具で地下水を探す人を指す場合もあります。

「占い師」は歴史的やファンタジー作品、伝統社会でよく使われます。日常会話では「スピリチュアル」や「占い師」が一般的。「water diviner」は水探し専門の人です。「divine（神聖）」とは別の意味です。
