'Disinterested' 主要指“公正無私”，尤其在正式或法律場合（如 a disinterested judge）。很多人會和 'uninterested'（不感興趣）混淆。在口語中，有時也錯誤地表示“不感興趣”，但在正式寫作中這樣用是不對的。
