何かを外に出すこと。たとえば、患者を病院から退院させる、液体を排出する、電気エネルギーを放出するなど。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマルや技術的な場面で使われる。'discharging a patient' は患者の退院、'discharging waste' は廃棄物の排出、'discharging a battery' はバッテリーの放電を意味する。日常会話ではあまり使われない。
