dingman은 옛날에 작은 나룻배를 저어 사람이나 짐을 강 건너로 실어 나르던 사람을 뜻합니다.

현대 한국어에서는 거의 사용되지 않으며, 역사·문학 작품 등에서 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 지금은 '나룻배 사공'이나 '페리맨'이 더 일반적입니다.
