被拘束者とは、警察や当局によって疑いや安全上の理由で身柄を拘束されている人のことです。

公式・報道などの文脈で使われ、日常会話ではあまり使われません。「prisoner」と違い、「detainee」はまだ有罪と決まったわけではありません。「政治的被拘束者」などとも使われます。
