高い場所から低い場所へ移動すること。また、家系や起源を表すときにも使われる。

'降りる'や'下る'は文語的な響きがあり、特に物理的な移動や感情、雰囲気の変化に使います。エレベーターの場合は'降りる'よりも'エレベーターで下へ行く'などが自然です。
