বেশিরভাগ সময় কথোপকথনে বা কোনো কাজের ক্ষেত্রে কৃতিত্ব বোঝাতে এই কথাটি ব্যবহৃত হয়। নেতিবাচক বাক্যে, উদাহরণস্বরূপ: 'সে প্রত্যাশা পূরণ করতে পারেনি'।
