Definition

新聞記事の冒頭に書かれる、執筆場所と日付を示す部分を指します。また、地球上で日付が変わる想像上の線（日付変更線）も意味します。

記事の冒頭で使う場合は日付欄、地理の話では日付変更線を指します。「デッドライン」（締切）とは異なるので注意。

The story's dateline says 'London, July 5.'

この記事の**日付欄**には「ロンドン、7月5日」と書かれています。
