主に木材を繊維に対して直角に切ること。または、映画や映像で異なる場面を交互に切り替えて同時進行を表現する編集技法。

'crosscut'は日常会話ではあまり使われないが、大工や映画編集の分野では一般的。映画では「クロスカットする」「クロスカット編集」などの形で使う。
