'Crosscheck' औपचारिक है और इसे अकादमिक, व्यावसायिक तथा समाचार क्षेत्रों में अक्सर प्रयोग किया जाता है। आम वाक्यांश: 'crosscheck the data', 'crosscheck with another source'। इसे 'double-check' (दो बार जाँचना) से न मिलाएँ, जिसमें जरूरी नहीं कि अलग स्रोत हों।
