信用信憑性

Definition

確かな証拠がなくても、ある事柄が正しい・本当だと信じることや、それを受け入れること。主にフォーマルな場面で使う。

主に書き言葉やフォーマルなシーンで登場する。'give credence to'（信じる、信用を与える）などの表現で多く使われ、普段の会話ではあまり用いない。

She gave little credence to the story.

彼女はその話にほとんど**信用**を置かなかった。

Reports have given credence to the rumor.

報道はその噂に**信憑性**を与えた。

I do not put much credence in his excuses.

私は彼の言い訳にはあまり**信用**を置かない。
