수나 대상을 하나씩 세어서 전체 개수를 알아내는 것. 또는 상황에서 중요하거나 가치가 있음을 의미하기도 한다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

‘count money’, ‘count students’, ‘count the days’처럼 하나씩 세는 동사로 사용. ‘Every vote counts’, ‘What counts is...’는 중요함을 뜻할 때 쓴다. ‘count’는 하나하나 세는 것이고, ‘calculate’는 수학적으로 계산하는 것.
