특정한 것을 찾기 위해 아주 꼼꼼하게 찾거나 조사하는 것.

비공식적 또는 반공식적인 상황에서 주로 쓰이며, 장소나 정보를 꼼꼼하게 찾거나 뒤질 때 사용한다. 'comb through'라는 표현도 많이 쓰임. 빗질하는 것과는 관련이 없다.
