মূলত অরাজনৈতিক বা আধা-প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেমন 'comb for clues' বা 'comb for answers'। সাধারণত 'comb through' এর সাথে ব্যবহৃত হয়। এখানে চিরুনি ব্যবহার করার কথা বোঝায় না।
