Definition

やさしい言葉や態度で相手を説得して、何かをさせること。気持ちを和らげて行動を促す。

特に子どもや動物、ためらう人によく使われる。強制や命令とは違い、穏やかな声や態度（'coaxing tone'など）で相手の気持ちを動かす時に使う。

Her mother's coaxing finally convinced her to eat the vegetables.

母親の**なだめること**で、ついに彼女は野菜を食べた。
