燃燒或發亮的煤塊，通常用於燒烤、加熱或作為燃料。 "Coals" 尤指燒紅後仍發亮的煤塊。

“Coals” 多用複數，指發熱、發光的炭塊。常見搭配如 "hot coals"（炙熱的炭火）、或象徵困難考驗的“walk on coals”。不表示繪畫用炭筆。
