特定の方法や道具を使って何かを調べること。つまり、あるやり方・人・物で確認したり検査したりするという意味。

説明書や技術的な文脈でよく使う（“check by pressing”のように）。'by'は方法を示し、'check with'（人に確認する）とは違う。
