情報や書籍、映画、発言などの一部を、不適切や危険だとみなされた場合に削除・修正・遮断すること。

主に公式や報道で使われる。'censoring information'（情報の検閲）など。政府や権限者の行為が多いが、自己検閲の場合もある。センサー（装置）とは異なる。

The government is censoring news on social media.
