전쟁이나 분쟁 중인 쪽들이 일시적으로 싸움을 멈추기로 합의하는 것.

‘휴전’은 주로 공식적·군사적 상황에서 쓰이며, '휴전에 합의하다', '휴전을 깨다' 등의 표현이 자주 쓰입니다. 영구적인 평화조약과는 다르게 임시 조치입니다.
