Definition

癰（よう）は、複数の毛穴に細菌感染が起こり、膿がたまってできる赤くて痛みを伴う大きな腫れです。

医療用語ややや古風な表現で、通常の「できもの（boil）」より広範で重症です。会話ではほとんど使われません。

The doctor said my skin infection is a carbuncle.

お医者さんは私の皮膚の感染が**癰（よう）**だと言いました。
