Definition

어떤 물건의 대부분 혹은 전부를 사들이는 것, 대개 그것을 모두 소유하거나 통제하려는 목적이다.

주로 비격식적으로 사용됨. 상품, 땅, 주식 등을 모두 사들일 때 쓴다 ('buy up land', 'buy up shares'). 독점 또는 통제를 암시한다. 'buy out'(지분 인수)와 구별.

The company wants to buy up all the houses on this street.

그 회사는 이 거리의 집을 모두 **싹쓸이하고** 싶어한다.

They tried to buy up all the tickets to the concert.
