"break to" in Korean

(나쁜 소식 등을) 알리다

Definition

누군가에게 나쁜 소식이나 듣기 힘든 소식을 조심스럽게 전하다.

주로 'break it to someone' 형태로, 나쁜 소식에만 사용. 표현 'I hate to break it to you, but...'이 흔함. 사물 파손에는 안 씀.

She finally managed to break it to her boss that she was quitting.

그녀는 결국 사장님에게 **그만두겠다고 말했다**.

I had to break it to her that the concert was canceled.
