'Blockading' प्रायः औपचारिक या समाचार में प्रयोग होता है, मुख्यतः सैन्य, बंदरगाह, सड़क या विरोध में। आम प्रयोग: 'blockading a port', 'blockading roads'। इसे 'blocking' से न मिलाएँ, जो कम समय के लिए और कम कड़ाई से होता है।
