『become』の三人称単数形。何かが別のものに変わる、または人や物事に合うという意味。

変化を表す場合（“becomes clear”, “becomes friends” など）が多いですが、「物や服が似合う」という意味もあります（“That color becomes you.”）。'be'との違いに注意。
