バラードは、物語を語る歌や詩で、シンプルで感情的な表現が特徴です。愛や深い感情を歌ったゆったりした曲を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

現代では恋愛や感情を歌うゆっくりした曲の意味で使われることが多いですが、昔は物語を語る詩や歌でした。「バラード」と「バラード（クラシックのballade）」は異なるものです。
