Definition

競売人は、オークションで品物の説明や入札の進行を担当し、競り落としを宣言する人です。

主に公開オークションの進行役に使います。「プロの競売人」や「早口の競売人」などで使われます。売主や会場そのものではありません。

The auctioneer started the bidding at $100.
