イベントや会議、学校などに正式に出席したことを表します。意図的にその場にいたという意味です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

イベントや授業、会議など公式な場面で使います。友人の家などカジュアルな訪問には使いません。「attended a conference」「attended school」などの表現によく登場します。「participated」とは違い、参加というより「その場にいる」ことを指します。
