試みた未遂の

Definition

何かをしようとしたことを表す語。また、未遂の意味でも使われ、行動が完了しなかった場合に使う。

動詞の場合「attempted to ～」と表現。形容詞としては「attempted murder」などフォーマルな場面でよく使われる。日常会話では「tried」がよく使われる。

He attempted to open the door.

彼はドアを開けようと**試みた**。

She attempted the test, but she did not finish it.

彼女はテストを**試みた**が、終わらなかった。

The police stopped an attempted robbery.

警察は**未遂の**強盗を阻止した。

I attempted to fix it myself, but I made it worse.

自分で直そうと**試みた**が、もっと悪くしてしまった。

She attempted to sound calm, but everyone noticed she was nervous.
