"at all" in Japanese

Definition

否定文や疑問文で、まったく～ない、少しも～ない、という強調に使う表現。何かが全然起きていない、存在しない時などに使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

たいてい否定文や疑問文で使い、「まったく〜ない」「全然〜ない」といった強い否定を表す。肯定文ではほとんど使われない。

Examples

I don't like tomatoes at all.

私はトマトが**まったく**好きではありません。

She didn't help me at all.

彼女は私を**まったく**助けてくれなかった。

Is there any milk left at all?

牛乳は**まったく**残っていますか？

He doesn't care at all about what people think.
