証拠がなくても何かを正しいと強く述べること。また、はっきりと意見を言う行為。

「Assertion」はフォーマルな場（学術・法律・議論）でよく使われます。「unsupported assertion」は証拠がない主張です。「claim」よりやや堅い表現。身体的行為には使いません。

Her assertion was that the meeting would be short.

彼女の**主張**は「会議は短いだろう」というものでした。

The lawyer made an assertion about the evidence.
