Definition

नींद की अवस्था में होना; जागा हुआ न होना। यह आमतौर पर 'be', 'fall' या 'stay' जैसे verbs के बाद आता है, किसी noun के पहले नहीं।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

'Asleep' आमतौर पर predicative adjective की तरह आता है: 'The baby is asleep' और 'I fell asleep' सही हैं, लेकिन 'an asleep baby' नहीं। Noun से पहले आमतौर पर 'sleeping' आता है: 'a sleeping baby'। Common patterns: 'fast asleep', 'half asleep', 'fall asleep'.
