何かが誰かや何かに原因がある、またはその結果であると考えたり言ったりすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

ややフォーマル・書き言葉的。原因や特徴、「〜のせい」「〜による」と言いたいときによく使う。'ascribe X to Y'という形が基本。会話ではあまり使わない。
