الأشخاص الذين يدرسون الماضي من خلال التنقيب وتحليل الأشياء والمباني والآثار التي تركها الإنسان.

"archeologists" هو جمع "archeologist". في الإنجليزية البريطانية تُكتب غالباً "archaeologist". يستعمل مع عبارات مثل "team of archeologists" و "fieldwork" و "excavation". لا تخلط بين علماء الآثار والمؤرخين؛ علماء الآثار يركزون على البقايا المادية.
