더 큰 그룹이나 전체에서 떨어져나가 독립적인 무언가가 되는 것. 사람, 조직, 사물이 전체에서 분리될 때 사용.

주로 공식적이거나 비즈니스, 기술 맥락에서 많이 씀. 'split'과 달리 'split off'는 독립적인 무언가가 생김을 의미. 구분해서 사용해야 함.
