記者是以蒐集資訊並向大眾報導新聞和事件為工作的人，通常為電視、報紙、廣播或網路媒體工作。

這個詞通常指主動採訪、蒐集新聞並在事件現場進行報導的新聞工作者。'reporter' 比 'journalist' 更具體：很多 reporter 是 journalist，但不是所有 journalist 都是在第一線採訪的 reporter。常見搭配有 'news reporter'、'reporters asked questions'、'reporters on the scene'。
