Genellikle zihinsel veya duygusal cesaret için kullanılır; fiziksel bir hareket için değil. 'pluck up the courage/nerve/strength' şeklinde geçer ve ardından genellikle 'to' + fiil gelir. İngiliz İngilizcesinde yaygındır.
