무언가가 덜 선명해지거나 이해하기 어려워지는 상태로, 유리나 물, 눈 또는 기억이나 판단 같은 정신적 부분에 쓰인다.

물리적(유리, 시야 등)과 비유적(기억, 판단 등) 상황 모두에 사용. 예시: 'clouding of vision', 'clouding the issue'. 공식적이며 너무 강한 느낌을 주지 않음.
